Master the art of the 5 paragraph essay.  This award winning and proven program will have you crafting effective arguments without the stress.  In this course, we will cover the fundamental skills to master the art of writing compelling essays. With extensive experience in reading and grading essays, I have developed a simplified and clear approach to teaching basic essay writing. Through practical activities and engaging discussions, we will delve into essential skills week by week.  Then, we will take your skills further through the process of writing a research paper.  Finally, we will move to advanced writing skills with Rhetorical Analysis.

 

This 18 week course covers the basics of high school essay writing.  We will start with foundational work in writing essays.  From this foundation, we will expand to study the art of argument more in depth to bring more awareness and sophistication to your essay.  After building these writing skills, we will move into applying those skills to a longer research paper.  The students will walk through the process of conducting academic research on a topic of their choice and presenting their findings both orally and in written format.  This writing course is a solid introduction to a variety of essay types that are necessary at the high school level.
