About the course

Modern Irish Level 1 introduces students to the fundamentals of the Irish language (Gaeilge) and the rich cultural traditions of Ireland. In this beginner-level course, students will develop essential communication skills through speaking, listening, reading, and writing activities focused on everyday vocabulary and practical conversation. Students will learn basic grammar, pronunciation, greetings, sentence structure, and common expressions while building confidence in using Irish in real-world contexts.


In addition to language study, students will explore Irish history, music, folklore, holidays, and traditions to better understand the cultural importance of the language and its role in Irish identity today. Through interactive lessons, games, songs, and cultural activities, students will gain an appreciation for both the modern and historical significance of Gaeilge.


By the end of the course, students will be able to introduce themselves, hold simple conversations, read and write basic sentences, and recognize common grammatical patterns in Irish. Students will also…
