Chuncheon and Korean BBQ

The next few days we spend in Chuncheon, which is where Ethan's mom and siblings live. It is also the city were Ellie was born. We took care of some business here, but also spent time visiting our old favorite places. We also enjoyed hanwoo (Korean beef), a kids cafe playground, dakgalbi (a Chuncheon speciality), and my favorite bingsu (shaved ice). Korean beef is a luxury as beef is very expensive here and this beef is raised to be soft and delicious. We enjoyed a group bbq, cooking at the table and sharing side dishes. Food is a huge part of Korean culture, and I often joke that my husband's family is talking about their next meal while eating their current one. They eat another meal for dessert from the first one--ha! Communal eating is a fun way to spend time together. Korean shaved ice--bingsu--is quite different as it has shaved milk instead of water, as well as fresh fruit on top. Delicious!
More on Korean cafe culture soon!
