Next stop, driving about 3 hours across South Korea to visit grandma in a small town called Yeongwol. We were excited to stop on the way to visit a Korean rest area. Now I know that rest areas aren't that exciting normally, but Korean rest areas are an entirely new phenomenon. Generally they include shopping areas, interesting snacks, and top notch restaurants. Koreans take food courts to an entirely new level. They often also have small entertainment areas, a convenience store (more on those in a future post), and a gas station. We love to stop and enjoy the delicious meals--not a quick hamburger, but all range of soups and rice combos usually. I enjoyed bulgogi and doenjang jiggae.
